Project Overview
The interior of this townhouse in the city center was shaped by the building's complex architectural character and a series of structural interventions introduced during the renovation. Black loft-style staircases, an exposed historic brick wall visible across all three levels, and newly added columns and structural reinforcements became defining architectural elements that influenced the overall design language.

The Challenge
Clients have different aesthetic and functional preferences. One favored pragmatic functionality and minimalism, while the other preferred a more expressive, colorful, contemporary approach. The design solution was found in a refined interpretation of contemporary Belgian style, which balances restraint and warmth, functionality and emotion, creating a cohesive interior that reflects both personalities.
Design Approach
A unified visual language was established through the careful use of terracotta and deep burgundy accents, balanced by a palette of calm, neutral tones. These recurring colors create continuity throughout all three floors, tying together the different functions and moods of the house.
Each space expresses this language in its own way: some rooms are defined by the warmth of terracotta stone, others by the raw textures of limestone and concrete, while elsewhere a neutral beige backdrop and natural oak flooring provide a quieter and more restrained atmosphere. Together, these materials create a layered and cohesive interior with a strong sense of identity.

Key Design Decisions
In addition to the interior design, a landscape and facade lighting concept was developed for the private courtyard. In the context of a dense urban environment, the goal was to transform this outdoor space into a secluded retreat that would provide privacy, screen the windows and entrance from neighboring properties, and create a calm, green buffer between the house and the surrounding city.
